Raw Dog Food made fresh!

Doggie Delicacies

On our farm, we have 3 energetic dogs. Belle, a fox red lab, Ariel, a golden retriever, and Willow, a chocolate lab. After researching optimal nutrition and “clean” feed choices for our cattle and chickens, we felt like we should find a better food source for our dogs. I researched raw food for dogs and investigated companies that make ready-to-serve raw food for dogs. I learned that for a balanced diet, dogs need: fresh meat, offal (liver, kidney, spleen, etc.) bone, with added nutrition from vegetables and/ or fruit. This had us thinking, we have all those ingredients here at Camden Locker. Truster Cattle Company and Camden Locker worked with the Ohio Department of Agriculture- Division of Plant Health- Grain, Feed and Seed Program, to develop a balanced raw dog food. We now have an Ohio Feed License to manufacture, label, and distribute dog food and treats.

Raw Dog Food

Belle’s Beef and Veggies Dog Food- This recipe combines beef and beef offal with Belle’s favorite veggies, carrots, sweet potatoes and green beans.

Ariel’s Beef and Rice Dog Food- Ariel has always had a more sensitive stomach. She needs a little rice to cut the “richness” of the meat. This recipe combines beef and offal with white rice. We also added her favorite veggie green beans.

Willow’s Beef and Apple Dog Food- This recipe combines beef and offal with Willow’s favorites, pumpkin and apples.

Dog Treats

Raw Dog Bones- our beef femurs are cut into 3 sizes: small, medium and large

Smoked Dog Bones- Our beef femurs are smoked in our smoke house

Dried Beef Lung- bite sized dehydrated beef lung (coming soon)

Pig Ears- our pig ears are smoked in our smoke house. (coming soon)

Why Consider a Raw Food Diet for your Dog?

  • Some people want their dog’s food to more closely resemble what their wild ancestors would have eaten (the idea of biologically appropriate raw food).
  • Some believe their dog’s overall health, and especially their haircoat, would benefit from a raw food diet.
  • Some pet parents feel that raw is better because the nutrients are less available in commercial dry kibble or canned dog foods after going through the cooking process.

Before Making the Switch

  • Consult your veterinarian about the benefits and risks involving raw feed diets.
  • Our raw food is sold frozen, with handling all raw meat, follow raw meat safe handling guidelines. Keep raw food refrigerated, wash hands and surfaces the raw meat touched including dog’s food bowl, after use.
  • Introduce the new food gradually mixing the new food into the old food. Slowly increase the amount of new food as you decrease the amount of old food.
